On June 19, Mayor Ferdie Estrella of Baliwag City addressed the “Coaching on the Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness Indicators” event organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region III. Held at Widus Hotel in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, the event aimed to enhance the competitiveness of local government units (LGUs) across Central Luzon.

Mayor Estrella was one of three guest speakers, joined by representatives from San Fernando City and the Provincial Government of Bataan. The audience comprised across LGUs from the region, eager to learn best practices.

In his speech, Mayor Estrella shared Baliwag City’s remarkable progress under his leadership. Before he took office, Baliwag ranked 960th in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) back in 2016. Through strategic initiatives, year in and year out, the city through his leadership, aces top ranks and even soared to 2nd place in the whole country during his tenure.

Mayor Estrella highlighted key strategies, such as streamlining business processes, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting transparency. He also emphasized that sticking to their core principle of “Serbisyong may Malasakit” or service with compassion helped in making work done more efficiently. These efforts attracted investments and earned Baliwag numerous awards for competitiveness.

Mayor Estrella expressed his willingness to work with all LGUs in Central Luzon to help boost economic performance, offering valuable guidance for other local leaders aiming to drive economic growth and development in their municipalities.
